Juggling the responsibilities of being a mom, a wife, and a career woman can be tough. There are so many things to get done in just a single day that many women feel as though they are just trying to get things done and over with which can get terribly exhausting.

Things don’t get easier when guilt is added into the mix. Some moms feel that they fail when they are not able to pay attention to their kids or when they fall short on doing something at work.

It’s amazing how some women seem to take life by the reigns and be able to do it all. But the truth is, nobody can really do it all. It’s all a matter of trying to achieve work-life balance so much so that every minute is well spent on important things.

The single most important thing to understand when it comes to achieving work-life balance is that it’s okay not to be able to do it all. Stop feeling guilty and stressed about saying no to certain things. It’s all about striking a balance.

Moms, especially those who are working, have to realize that family time is important. Reserve a special day where work will cease to matter and that hubby and the kids are your focus.

It is also useful to cut out activities that don’t really add value to your life. This can be anything from watching too much television, spending too much time on t he internet, or shopping for shoes. This isn’t to say you have to forget about relaxing. It’s just that there are certain activities you can forego so that you can spend more time with your family.

Delegate certain tasks. You don’t have to do everything yourself. Things like grocery shopping can be done online. There are also activities at work that you can pass to other people.

Finally, always remember to have a little “me time”. Having a breather is important. Read a good book, take a long hot bath, or stroll around town. The world will not fall apart if you don’t pay attention to it even just for an hour.


Dealing with the Challenges of Being a Mom

Motherhood has to be one of the most fulfilling things in the world to me. Being able to nurture my twins and bring them up to be wonderful people just brings me joy and satisfaction. I love my children and I love growing with them.

However, I do understand that raising children can sometimes be frustrating and stressful. There are things you can’t control no matter how hard we try. There are going to be bad days but the cons of motherhood should never outweigh the pros.

One of the most important things to remember in order to keep the joy of motherhood alive is to have fun. While it entails a lot of responsibility, rearing children also means reveling in simple things like blowing bubbles or reading stories to our youngsters. Find delight in mundane activities that you can share with kids because it is the little things that create the best memories.

Also, always keep in mind that kids grow up so fast. Time flies and the demands that come with taking care of a toddler or the nuisance of potty training will pass faster than you think it will. At best, we only have short of two decades to keep our kids close so remember to relish every moment whether good or bad. Always bear in mind that an extra dose of patience and good humor will go a long way.

Finally, know that motherhood is a great way to relive our own childhood. If you grew up in a loving and nurturing home, you can give the same experience to our kids so that they too can grow up with memories that they can cherish forever. On the other hand, if you didn’t have such an appealing time when you were growing up, you can use that as an opportunity to provide a better experience for your own children and from there, inner healing will ensue.

Motherhood is a joyous experience and will never stop even if the kids have started carving their own path. Just remember that we can’t take the good without taking along the bad.

Fitness for Mommies

Exercise has always been an important part of my life.  Not only does it play a crucial role in keeping my body fit but it also helps me relieve stress and to keep a positive outlook thanks to the endorphins that my body releases during each session. This is why even if I have a home to manage, a husband to take care of, and two lovely kids to nurture, I still make sure that I get that much needed calorie-burning session.

I am, however, not a stranger to the fact that there are moms who think they cannot fit a full exercise routine to their daily schedules. With our plates piled high with responsibilities as mothers, wives, and career women, heading to the gym for a two-hour session doesn’t seem possible.

With that in mind, here are some tips that super moms like us can follow in order to stay physically fit:

  • Pre-Plan Your Workouts. During the weekend, set the times when you will be working out during the whole week. Also, list down what you want to achieve each week and plan a balanced workout according to your goals.
  • Exercise with the Kids. Getting your young ones involved in your fitness plan is a great way to introduce them to active living. You can bring the kids to  the park and use it as an outdoor gym where you can perform some step-ups, triceps dips, or even push-ups while the children are running around. If you must stay indoors, consider using a fitness DVD of your choice. The kids can exercise with you or you can pop the disc in your player during their nap time.
  • Carry a Resistance Band With You. Resistance bands come in handy while you wait for your kids’ practice to be over.
  • Put Some Muscle in Housework. Scrubbing can be the perfect excuse to get your heart rate pumping. Maximize your housework and transform it into your personalized calorie-busting workout.
  • Plan a Fitness Date with Moms. While the kids are busy with their play date, you can round up the moms for a workout session. Squats and lunges is always more fun when done with other people.

Keeping with the trends certainly doesn’t have to be expensive. To stay with the ongoing trends, I love to check out sites like net-a-porter.com and see everything that’s popular for the season. Keep an eye on your favorite fashion magazine to see what’s hot or check out Pinterest for everything fashion. I could get lost on this site for hours! It’s totally my guilty pleasure.

Buy the classic items you love and find really great priced items that you know are trendy and will be in style for long. Every designer out there copies one another’s trends so you will be able to find stuff that looks expensive but are not.

I like to spend my money on a few classic pieces that usually cost more but lasts forever items like handbags, a great pair of winter boots, as well as sexy heels for evening.

Adding comfy T-shirts with lots of great accessories is fun. Having cute scarves and understanding when to wear and add items is important. I Love having a great youthful motorcycle black leather jacket—it’s edgy, young, and looks great mixed with conservative as well as with fashion forward items.

Also, change up your polish and makeup toward the trends that are coming out as this will keep you fresh and on point. Adding some highlights or darkening your hair during winter also helps you feel great—and as mom’s, since we spend so much time on our family, we also need to feel amazing.

Adding fashion and style on top of a mom’s duties of being a domestic diva, an all around TLC provider, and super wife can be a daunting idea for some. However, I am a firm believer that no matter how busy moms get, we still owe it to ourselves to look good in spite of the fact that our plates seem to be always full.

Don’t get me wrong, just like most moms, I have to juggle all the responsibilities that come with being dedicated mom and a loving wife and that means I barely have the time to drop by the mall or my favorite boutique to scout for cute tops and flattering dresses. Instead of letting myself go, I have learned to rely on my smartphone as well as on apps to help me find some of the best looks and trends online. Here are some apps that can also help you become a fashionista mom:

Keeping Fit During the Holidays

The holidays always entail getting together with family and friends. This also means that there will inevitably be a lot of eating and drinking. You can almost hear the pounds adding up the moment you leave one gathering. However, we need not put on so much weight just because we are enjoying good food and drinks.

I have found that during this time of the year, working twice as hard with my workout routine is needed. Always remember that to be able to lose weight, or at least to keep stay in shape, you need to burn more calories than you take in. Top knot paired with embellished shoulders or high-necked outfits. Show off this falls’ most fabulous tops with a chic top knot. This up do can draw attention towards your clothes and it’s perfect for a night out.

Luscious volume, half up, half down paired with an off-the-shoulder dress. Pack on tons of volume on your hair, pin it back halfway, and show off your shoulders for maximum impact.

Side braid paired with workout clothes. Let your inner sporty gal loose with a pretty side braid and pair it with your capris and zip-up workout hoodie. You will avoid frizzy ponytails and you’ll be able to focus on toning your body instead of worrying if your hair is all over the place.

Louis Vuitton Fall Fashion 2012

Set in the era of luxurious train travel, Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection was a spectacle to see at the Paris Fashion Week. Haute designer Marc Jacobs once again showed fashion-forward guests his impeccable taste in couture.

This season’s show consisted of a pre-World War I aristocratic theme in a custom-built “train station”, complete with a functioning steam engine train. It features models that alighted from the train while clad in refined coats, skirts, hats, and platform Mary Janes, with their personal porters striding along, carrying their equally well-designed luggage.

Vogue reports that the collection included “elongated, ankle-grazing, A-line silhouettes, and the tall, deep-brimmed, expression-concealing hats, each sprouting an eccentric medallion of fur, with a puff of feather, on the side. Break these looks down, and you have a myriad of jackets, often in glittery fabrics, with oversize jeweled buttons, severe, sleeveless A-line coats, square-necked Empire waist dresses in Lurex—each of which doesn’t need to look in the slightest vintage-y in a modern girl’s wardrobe.”

Parading in browns, grays, blacks, and muted rose tones, the models paraded looks that mostly featured “pants under the skirt” style for a more contemporary vibe.

This season’s collection from Louis Vuitton suits street casual style and fashion for work given the right pairing. Put together an ensemble of a soft pink coat and casual jeans and pair it with beautiful Mary Janes and you’re all set for a relaxed day out. Put together an a-line skirt with a jacket and you’re good for the office. With this collection, haute moms will also find themselves striding along the streets wearing one of the finest designs this Fall.

Halloween Party Invitations

Halloween parties are a great way to celebrate the spookiest day of the year. Between the awesome healthy sweets that you can serve and the fancy, creepy, and whimsical costumes that you and your guests can wear, there’s no denying that spending time together with friends at this time of the year is special.

These gatherings are also a great way to stir up your creative juices. Why not send out handmade invitations that capture the essence of Halloween?

I was browsing MarthaStewart.com the other day and I came across great ideas for making your own party invitations for the Holloween. I thought they were really cool so I would like to share them with you. Here are the ones that caught my attention:

1. Owl Invitations with Movable Wings

*Color-photocopy templates at 125 percent (or download images and print) onto white heavyweight matte paper. Cut out parts with scissors. (For thicker invitations, affix copies to black card stock with spray adhesive, then cut out parts.)

*At joints, make holes using a microhole punch. Secure wings behind body with black miniature brads.

*Write details using a pen. Fold in parts; enclose card in an A6 envelope.

2. Black Magic Party Invitations

*Print invitation text on computer postcard paper (8 1/2-by-11-inch sheets perforated into four sections). Use painters or masking tape to secure the cards, information side down, to the work surface. Evenly tape the entire border of each card. Color the backs of the cards completely with brightly colored crayons, then coat with a thick layer of black tempera paint. Once the paint has dried, ask your favorite young artist to etch designs on the black background. To vary patterns and line thicknesses, experiment with such implements as plastic utensils, nails, toothpicks, and coffee stirrers. If you end up with extras, frame them with orange construction paper and use them as decorations at your party.

3.  Message in a Bottle Invitations
